| New recommendations on International Merchandise Trade Statistics (IMTS 2010) adopted in February 2010 |
| The Statistical Commission, at its forty-first session, held in New York from 23 to 26 February 2010, adopted the draft of the International Merchandise Trade Statistics: Concepts and Definitions 2010 (IMTS 2010) as the new international recommendations for merchandise trade statistics (See Official records of the Economic and Social Council, 2008, Supplement No. 4 (E/2008/24 and E/CN.3/2008/34), chapter I, section B, Decision 39/109). |

| Revision process towards IMTS 2010 |
| The provisional draft of IMTS 2010 had been prepared by the United Nations Statistics Division in cooperation with members of the Expert Group on International Merchandise Trade Statistics (EG-IMTS) and the Inter-agency Task Force on International Merchandise Trade Statistics (TF-IMTS). The draft incorporated inputs from national statistical offices and international organizations received during the two rounds of the worldwide consultations. The draft was reviewed and endorsed by the EG-IMTS at its second meeting, held from 3 to 6 November 2009, and submitted to the Commission at its forty-first session. |
